Ganesha is known for his elephant head, which represents the highest wisdom. His trunk stands for intellect and distinctiveness. The direction of Ganesha's trunk also has symbolic meaning. Here the trunk turns to Ganesha's left. This signifies the direction for success in the world. It is a position associated with grihastas, or householders. He has only one tusk, which means the transcendence of all dualities, namely pleasure and pain, honour and dishonour, heat and cold, day and night. Here Ganesha holds his broken tusk and a bowl of Laddus of sweetmeats. Laddus is the name for Indian sweetmeats. Whilst some may interpret this as Ganesha simply having a sweet tooth or a (relatable) penchant for candy, it is no surprise that the sweet delicacies carry further meaning.
