Le whisky Nikka The Grain est un embouteillage de la collection “Discovery”. Cette série a débuté en 2021 pour les 90 ans de la maison Nikka. Il s'agit d'un assemblage de whiskies de grain provenant des 4 distilleries Nikka. On retrouve pas moins de 7 styles de whisky de grain différents dont : les Coffey Grain et Coffey Malt produits à Miyagikyo, les anciens Coffey Grain de maïs et orge malté et Coffey Malt (100% orge malté) provenant de la distillerie Nishinomiya fermée en 1998, du Barley Grain provenant de Moji (orge maltée et non maltée) distillé en alambic à repasse, du Barley Grain et du Corn & Rye (seigle, maïs et orge malté) distillés en alambic à repasse et provenant de Satsumatsukasa. Le vieillissement est réalisé en fût de chêne américain.

The Coffey still is the worlds first patented continuous still invented by Aeneas Coffey in 1830. While Masataka Taketsuru was staying in Scotland, he had an opportunity to learn how to distill grain whisky in a Coffey still firsthand from craftsmen at James Calder in Bo'ness in 1919. Masataka valued the feature of this type of still and installed two sets of Coffey stills after he established Nikka Whisky.

Yoichi Single Malt is a range of single malt expressions from the Yoichi Distillery, Nikka's first distillery built in 1934. The founder Masataka Taketsuru chose the town of Yoichi in Hokkaido because of the similar environmental conditions to Scotland, where he learned whisky-making. Yoichi malts are described as bold and strong with refined peaty notes and smokiness brought by the traditional direct coal-fired distillation.
