In 1989, an adventure game by Milton Bradley and Games Workshop called HeroQuest began hitting tables and taking players into a fantasy world where a party of heroes delve down into dungeons, fight against many monsters, and search for treasure while completing a variety of quests. This lite role-playing game focused on action rather than complex rules and quickly became quite popular spawned several expansions in both the United States and the United Kingdom.
