Djon Djon (Djon-djon) is an edible black mushroom, used as a delicacy in Haitian rice dishes and served with meat or fish on special occasions. Boiling the mushrooms releases a grayish-black color, which is addes to the rice to get the aromatic taste.Cooking Recipe:Soak the pack of mushroom in 4 cups of water, bring to boil. Turn off heat and let soak for 30 minutes. Strain the black mushroom water in a container. In a large pot saute 3 cloves of minced garlic, 1-2 spring of thyme, 1 small chopped green onion, on medium heat for 2 minutes. Add 2 cups rice and stir. Add the powder, 1/4 cup lima bean or green peas. Bring to boil, reduce the heat until most of the water evaporates. Cover the pot and let steam the rice for 15 minutes. Serve warm and
