The System Sensor CO1224T is a wired Carbon Monoxide gas detector meant to be used with an alarm system. The electrochemical sensing technology is fully UL compliant, meeting the standards of UL2075. Similar to many modern CO detectors, this device has a 10-year end-of-life timer. Buy the CO1224T here!
This sensor is also available in a round version, System Sensor CO1224TR.The power connections must be 12 or 24VDC. This can be accomplished by wiring to the alarm panel's auxiliary power terminals, or by setting up an auxiliary power supply. When idle, the CO1224T draws 20mA of current. If the detector senses carbon monoxide gas it will activate. When in alarm, the sensor draws 40mA of current to power the local sounder and LED. If you have the CO1224T connected to an alarm panel's auxiliary power terminals, be sure to calculate the current draw at 40mA for each CO1224T on the system. For longer wire runs, we recommend using 18 gauge 4 conductor cabling, though smaller gauge wire can be used, if necessary. The zone wiring connections can be landed on any open zone terminals on a control panel that supports hardwired inputs, such as a VISTA-20P. Any CO detection zone should be programmed with the appropriate carbon monoxide zone type. On the VISTA-20P, this would be Zone Type 14. Since this CO Detector is a normally open (NO) device, connect the end-of-line resistor in parallel across the zone terminals at the CO for proper wire supervision. If multiple CO1224T devices are wired to the same zone, the resistor should be installed at the last detector in the circuit. The CO1224TR also has two (2) trouble terminals, marked T. The normally closed trouble relay must be used when installing to UL2075 code, and it is strongly encouraged that it be used for any installation. When the detector senses an internal issue, such as loss of power, or when it has reached its end of life, the trouble circuit opens. This will alert the panel that there is an issue. Once the issue has been addressed a second disarm should clear the trouble display so that the system can continue to provide carbon monoxide protection. The trouble circuit can either be wired to its own separate zone or wired in series with the CO1224T alarm terminals. We recommend using Real Test patented technology which supports testing measures with canned CO. When tripped, the System Sensor CO1224T will produce a local 85 dB, temporal-4 sound, and the LED will begin flashing. If the zone is properly wired and programmed, it will also produce a system alarm event. If central station monitoring is being used, a report will be sent to the monitoring station. Carbon monoxide gas is odorless, colorless, and tasteless. When a CO alarm is indicated, everyone should leave the premises and wait for the fire department to determine when it is safe to return. Please note: CO alarms require Fire Department dispatching. Even if you provide the proper false alarm password, the monitoring station is required to dispatch when a carbon monoxide alarm is received. Before testing, always remember to place your security system on test mode with the monitoring station if you are enrolled in central station monitoring.
